Perak Darul Ridzuan building closed tomorrow

March 2, 2009

IPOH, 2 March 2009: The main gate of the Perak Darul Ridzuan building which houses the Perak Menteri Besar’s office, State Secretariat and Perak legislative assembly will be kept closed tomorrow, according to a notice put up at the complex.

The notice, issued by the management service division of the office of the State Secretariat, also advised employees at the building in Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab to cancel all appointments for tomorrow at the premises.

State legislative assembly Speaker V Sivakumar has called for an emergency sitting of the assembly tomorrow to vote on two motions.

The first motion is to reaffirm the support for Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin as the rightful menteri besar. The second motion is to seek for dissolution of the state assembly and pave the way for fresh polls.

Perak police chief Datuk Zulkefli Abdullah warned of police action against any gathering tomorrow at the Perak Darul Ridzuan building, and said that such a gathering would be illegal.

He said the building administration had informed the police that the state assembly would not sit tomorrow and added that only State Secretariat employees and people with prior approval would be allowed into the building.

“According to a statement from the secretary of the assembly received today, the emergency sitting of the assembly called for tomorrow is not valid because it does not have the consent of the Sultan of Perak,” he said when contacted.

Zulkefli said police officers would be deployed at the building to ensure that there were no illegal gatherings. — Bernama

Why so afraid? Just let the drama unfold. We will judge how the things are. The State Secretary has no power to stick his neck into the State Assembly matters.

Please go back and study the constitution again. It seems like we have a lot of illiterate people around town. It is a wonder how certain people or parties can go to this length to cover up their coup.
