TELUK INTAN, 25 Feb 2009: The annual vacation allowance of RM20,000 for each of the six Perak state executive council (exco) members will be withdrawn and utilised instead to overcome the people’s problems, said newly-appointed Barisan Nasional Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.
He said it would not be appropriate for the total allocation of RM120,000 to be used as vacation allowance in the wake of the current uncertain economic situation.
“The money will instead be utilised for the people who are in need,” he told reporters after chairing an exco meeting at the Hilir Perak District Office today.
Zambry also said that the state government had decided to hold the exco meeting in each of the state’s districts on rotation to enable all the exco members to better appreciate the people’s problems at the grassroots level. — Bernama

What about his own holiday and overseas trip allowance as “menteri besar'” of Perak? He cuts others’ but not his own. Maybe he should lead by example, beginning with him, after all his money is also tax-payers’ money.
