KUALA LUMPUR, 30 Dec 2008: About 300 members of a non-governmental organisation, Majlis Permuafakatan Ummah (Pewaris), gathered in front of the Bandar Baru Bangi Stadium last night to seek PAS’s help to stop the pig farming project in Masjid Tanah, Malacca.
A minor commotion broke out when the Pewaris members were initially prevented from entering a ceramah, “Abolish ISA (Internal Security Act)”, organised by PAS.
However, after negotiating for more than 10 minutes, the organisers allowed five Pewaris members to enter the stadium.
Pewaris deputy chairperson Rahimuddin Md Harun later handed over the group’s memorandum to PAS vice-president Mohamad Sabu and PAS Youth head Salahuddin Ayub.
Pewaris and the Gabungan Gerakan Melayu Muda, represent residents of six villages in Melaka, namely Pengkalan Balak, Sungai Tuang and Paya Mengkuang
About 30 police personnel from the Kajang District Police Headquarters maintained security at the stadium. — Bernama
