KUALA LUMPUR, 20 Aug 2008: MISC Bhd (MISC)’s tanker, MT Bunga Melati Dua has been hijacked by unknown pirates in the Gulf of Aden, located between Somalia and Yemen.
In a statement today, the company said the tanker, with 39 crew, of which 29 are Malaysians and 10 Filipinos, was fully laden with palm oil and heading towards Rotterdam from Dumai, Sumatera at the time of the incident.
“MISC regrets to inform that its chemical/palm oil tanker, MT Bunga Melati Dua has been hijacked by unknown pirates, at 10.09 pm on Aug 19.
No further information was available.
“All authorities have been notified accordingly and we are working closely to render the necessary assistance and support needed," MISC added.
As at 3.06 pm, MISC’s share price stood at RM8.60, up 10 sen. – Bernama
