KUALA LUMPUR, 7 June 2009: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said he is adopting an open attitude concerning the proposal to create a unity government as suggested by PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang because he has yet to know the objective of the proposal.
“I’m thankful to PAS president Datuk Seri Hadi (Awang), who has suggested the formation of the unity government. But I don’t know yet what is meant by that. So, I maintain an open attitude on the matter.
“It’s up to Hadi to explain what he means by it,” he said at a media conference after opening the 56th Annual General Meeting of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here today.
In his policy speech at the 55th PAS Annual Assembly at the Malawati Stadium recently, Hadi had again defended his idea on the formation of the unity government, which he described as capable of resolving the country’s problems.
Commenting further, Najib said he could not make a decision on the matter alone as it was a major decision that must be accepted by the top leadership of Umno and the Barisan Nasional. — Bernama
