KUALA LUMPUR, 5 March 2009: Police have renewed their warning against those planning to gather at the Istana Negara on Saturday.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Wira Muhammad Sabtu Osman said police would take stern action against those involved as the gathering was illegal and a threat to public order.
“We have warned them many times but it seems that there are people who are adamant,” he told Bernama when contacted.
The gathering is planned by the Gerakan Mansuhkan PPSMI, a movement protesting against the policy to teach and learn science and mathematics in English.
The movement’s chairperson Datuk Dr Hassan Ahmad said the gathering was expected to be attended by about 100,000 people.
