KUALA LUMPUR, 4 Dec 2008: Deputy Home Minister Datuk Chor Chee Heung said a recent announcement by police that they will punish negligent parents who fail to care for their children was just a proposal.
He said if ever there was any arrest, a detailed investigation would have to be done before any action was taken.
“It is imperative that an in-depth investigation is done and if there is proof only then can we act,” he said in reply to a supplementary question by Tan Ah Heng (BN-Gelang Patah) in the Dewan Rakyat here today.
In reply to a question by Khalid Abdul Samad (Pas-Shah Alam), Chor said the police were still investigating and had not closed the cases of Nurin Jazlin Jazimin and Sharlinie Mohd Nashar.
He said several arrests were made but there was no proof that anyone was involved. — Bernama
