Strong quake hits Tonga island, no tsunami

KUALA LUMPUR, 19 Oct 2008: A strong eathquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale hit Tonga Islands, about 7,898km Southeast of Tawau, Sabah, at 1.11pm today.
The Meteorological Department said in a statement that the earthquake did not pose any tsunami threat to Malaysia. — Bernama
