KUALA LUMPUR, 23 Sept 2008: Selangor MCA today demanded a public apology from DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang over his accusation that police reports lodged by members of an MCA division in Selangor led to the detention of DAP’s Seputeh Member of Parliament Teresa Kok under the Internal Security Act (ISA).
“Everybody including the MCA is happy that Teresa Kok has been released. Nevertheless, we are sad to note that Lim Kit Siang had erroneously accused MCA for causing her arrest without showing any proof,” Selangor MCA secretary Datuk Lee Sing Chooi said in a statement here.
Kok was detained on 12 Sept under the ISA to assist investigations regarding complaints about the “azan” (Muslim call to prayer) and was released on 26 Sept.
Lee added that Selangor MCA wanted Lim retract his remarks and make a public apology not to only the MCA, but to the general public at large. – Bernama
