Set up council of Pakatan Rakyat menteris besar: Hadi Awang

August 15, 2008

IPOH, 15 Aug, 2008: PAS today proposed the immediate establishment of a council of Pakatan Rakyat menteris besar to ensure that development in the five opposition-led states is planned jointly and for mutual benefit.

PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said the council would be the platform to integrate the riches and strengths of these states, like natural resources, water supply and port facilities.

It was also make the five states — Kelantan, Penang, Perak, Kedah and Selangor —competitive to foreign and local investors and thus speed up their development, he said.

"I propose that activities to attract foreign investors be conducted jointly for states under the control of the alliance.

"This joint package that focuses on the advantages of states under Pakatan Rakyat (People’s Front), coupled with the openness, transparency and incorruptibility of the state governments, will attract more investors," he said when opening the 54th PAS muktamar (assembly) at Stadium Indera Mulia here.

Abdul Hadi also proposed the formation of a special committee responsible for coordinating planning and implementation to ensure the smooth running of the Pakatan Rakyat administration.

He said any problems that arose could be discussed and settled by this committee, which should have representatives of all the parties within Pakatan Rakyat as members. – Bernama
