PORT KLANG, 4 Feb 2009: Selangor police chief Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar will give his statement to the police next week in connection with the death of car thief suspect A Kugan.
Speaking to reporters after visiting the marine police base at the Pulau Indah here, he said, the statement would be recorded by Bukit Aman officers at the Sepang police headquarters on 11 Feb.
“My statement will not be taken by officers of the Sepang police headquarters,” he said.
Khalid added that he had stated previously that Kugan was suspected of being involved in the theft of luxury cars in Johor, Pahang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Malacca.
Some of the cars are being kept at the Port Klang police station, he said.
Kugan, 22, was detained on 14 Jan and died in police custody on 20 Jan.
Meanwhile, he said, a member of the Anga robbery gang who sustained gunshot injuries in police operation last night, had succumbed to the injuries while being taken to the Serdang Hospital.
Three other members of the group were shot dead in the 10.45pm incident. — Bernama
