SHAH ALAM, 14 May 2009: The Selangor government is considering emulating the model used by ‘Mid-Peninsula Housing Coalition’ (MPHC) of California for meeting housing needs in the state.
Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said MPHC was a non-profit body which built housing schemes that met the needs of people in the lower income groups, retirees and the disabled.
“I had the opportunity to be briefed by them on their operation during my working visit to California and also got to see firsthand some of their projects in San Metro County, Pablo Alto and San Jose,” he said in a statement issued by the Menteri Besar’s press secretariat here today.
The statement said Abdul Khalid, who left for California last week, had called on Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor on 11 May at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles, where the sultan is recuperating from heart surgery he underwent at the Stamford Medical Centre on 2 May.
It added that the sultan’s personal physician, Datuk Dr Anuar Masduki, had informed him the sultan was recovering well. — Bernama
