KUALA LUMPUR, 23 Feb 2009: The High Court will hear on 25 May 2009 lawyer Datuk Muhammad Shafee Abdullah’s application for several injunctions against blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin.
The date was fixed by deputy registrar Nazri Ismail after the case was mentioned before him today. The inter-parte hearing will be before High Court judge Datuk Aziah Ali.
Nazri also fixed 1 April for case management of the main suit.
Muhammad Shafee, represented by counsel S Ravindran, is suing Raja Petra for posting three articles on 6, 7 and 11 Aug 2008.
The articles were entitled Shafee Abdullah: Sodomologist Extraordinaire, Money, Power and Sex: What Motivates Man and The Real Dalang Behind The Anwar Sodomy Allegation on the Malaysia Today website, which he said were defamatory of him.
On 13 Aug 2008, he obtained ex-parte injunctions ordering Raja Petra to remove the articles as well as all comments on the articles from the website.
He also wanted, among others, for Raja Petra to reveal the identities of visitors to the website who had left comments and messages following the articles’ publication. — Bernama
