KUANTAN, 19 May 2009: Six people, two of them tourists from Sweden, are under quarantine in Pahang since 13 May for suspected Influenza A (H1N1) infection, Pahang Health Committee chairperson Datuk Hoh Khai Mun said today.
He said the couple from Sweden had been quarantined at a hotel in the Jerantut district while a family of four had been quarantined at their house in Bentong.
None of the six people showed any symptoms of the disease so far, he added.
“Tomorrow is the last day of their quarantine and then they can go about their daily activities as usual,” he said when contacted.
He said the family had returned from the United States on the same flight as the person from Sungai Buloh who had symptoms of the flu.
Meanwhile, a woman who had just returned from New York was at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) here after having been transferred by helicopter from the Pekan Hospital this afternoon.
Pahang Director of Health Datuk Dr Rosnah Ismail said so far no one in Pahang had been confirmed to have been infected by the Influenza A (H1N1) virus and the decision to quarantine the woman was a precautionary measure. — Bernama
