KUALA TERENGGANU, 17 Jan 2009: Voting for the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary by-election here proceeded smoothly at all polling centres although there were two minor incidents.
Terengganu police chief, Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan, said although the situation was quite tense at several polling centres it was just a normal scenario.
“Until 5pm today, no violence occurred,” he told a news conference here today.
He said, however, a police report was lodged by a PAS supporter regarding the presence of a person who was not supposed to be at a polling area.
The police were investigating the matter, he said.
So far, Mohd Shukri said the police had not allowed any party to hold a procession to celebrate victory in the by-election. — Bernama
