SINGAPORE, 11 Jan 2009: A Singapore member of parliament was injured when he was attacked by an unidentified assailant who allegedly threw an inflammable liquid at him during a community event at Yio Chu Kang here today.
Seng Han Thong, 58, was sent to the Singapore General Hospital for burns on the face, neck and back, according to local media reports.
Another man, said to be the chairperson of a temple, was also hurt and was rushed to the hospital.
The police have detained a suspect to facilitate investigations into the attack.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong visited Seng at the hospital. — Bernama
