KUALA LUMPUR, 3 Feb 2009: A suspected armed robber died while fleeing police when he fell from the 10th floor of the hardcore poor apartments in Jinjang during a morning police raid.
Sentul police district chief, ACP Zakaria Pagan said the suspect, Muslizal Muhammad, 24, tried to get to the 10th floor from the 12th floor but fell to his death.
“In the raid we detained two men headed to a flat unit. After a while, the flat door was opened and we arrested four men aged 17-24 years.
“After inspecting the flat, police found a open window and saw a man believed to be the leader of the gang hanging from the balcony and trying to get away,” he told reporters.
He said the suspect slipped from the 10th floor and fell to his death.
He said earlier police had at 4am chased a car with the gang members in it and found it abandoned in Rawang.
“The suspects holed up in the flat which they thought was safe,” he said, adding that police had solved at least 20 robbery cases in Jinjang and Kepong.
“Their modus operandi was to steal cars outside the Sentul district before using them for robberies in the district,” he said. — Bernama
