KUALA LUMPUR, 28 March 2009: The Umno general assembly 2008 enters its fifth and last day today with the winding-up speeches by party leaders taking the centre stage.
The assembly held at the Putra World Trade Centre resumed at 8.30am with a debate on a motion on education and religion before the newly elected chiefs of the three wings start the winding-up speeches.
Puteri chief Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin will take the rostrum followed by Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin and Wanita chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
This will be followed a supreme council member before the three newly elected vice-presidents — Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein and Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Umno Deputy President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will take the floor before newly elected Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi deliver their speeches.
Najib will again take the stage to deliver his acceptance speech as Umno president.
The general assembly had seen stiff contests for the Umno supreme council posts and that of the executive committees of the three wings. — Bernama
