IN this interview with BFM89.9, Green Drinks Kuala Lumpur initiator Steve McCoy, who is also founder and principal of consultancy Counterpoint, and Wild Asia advisor Toh Su Mei talk about what it will take to live sustainably.
“It’s not an environmental problem, it’s an everything problem,” says McCoy who advocates thinking in systems about the environmental issues we face. Among others, businesses need to value both natural and human capital, he says, in order for us to live within planetary limits. “We only have one planet,” he adds.
A trained biologist, Toh notes that “everything is inter-related” adding that being sustainable also means not exploiting people. Living sustainably, she says, “has to start at every level”.
