IPOH, 10 Feb 2009: Police today detained a woman believed to be involved in 6 Feb’s riot at the Ubudiah Mosque, near Istana Iskandariah, in Kuala Kangsar.
Perak police chief Datuk Zulkefli Abdullah said the woman, aged 24 and a member of a party in the Pakatan Rakyat, was detained at about 9am at a premises in Kuala Kangsar, following a tip-off from the public.
The woman would be remanded tomorrow for further investigations, he told a press conference here today.
Following her arrest, Zulkefli said 11 people had been arrested since Friday.
However, nine of them had been released on police bail.
He said police were looking for five other men believed to be involved in the riot.
Meanwhile, police have received 44 reports from individuals, political parties and non-governmental organisations against Pakatan Rakyat leaders for allegedly making seditious remarks since two days ago.
On security control at the state secretariat building, Zulkefli said it was made on the instruction by the State Secretary. — Bernama
