KUALA LUMPUR, 9 Jan 2009: Deputy Secretary-General I of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Datuk Zoal Azha Yusof has been promoted to the post of secretary-general of the ministry, succeeding Datuk Suboh Mohd Yassin whose contract of service expires tomorrow.
Zoal Azha, 53, holds a Masters degree in Public Policies from the University of Wisconsin, United States (US) and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Universiti Malaya.
Zoal Azha’s promotion was announced by the Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan, in a statement, here today.
Zoal Azha joined the civil service as an Administrative and Diplomatic Service officer on 1 Dec 1981 and has wide experience in public administration and land management at the federal and state levels.
Mohd Sidek also announced the appointment of the Deputy Secretary-General (Management) of the Home Ministry, Datuk Ahmad Shafii Saidin, as the Deputy Secretary-General (Management) of the Health Ministry from 12 Jan, succeeding Datuk Ahmad Kabit who was appointed Secretary-General of the Housing and Local Government Ministry on 1 Jan.
Ahmad Shafii, 56, graduated with a Masters degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California, US, and a Bachelors degree in Urban Studies from the Universiti Sains Malaysia.
He joined the civil service as an Administrative and Diplomatic Service officer on 1 Nov 1978, and has experience in the fields of district management and local government as well as public administration. — Bernama
